Figure 3: Number of serogroup B, Y and W cases of confirmed IMD, Australia, 2016, by age This Figure shows the number of laboratory confirmed invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) cases that were serogroup B, Y or W, in 2016. The figure shows that serogroup W is predominant in those aged 45 years and over, serogroup B is predominant in those aged less than one year, and those aged 20-24 years, and roughly equal cases numbers of serogroup B and W in other age groups. The graph also shows that, in 2016, serogroup w and serogroup Y disease was seen in all age categories, except for 10-14 years, where previously, it was rarely seen in age categories other than 45 years of age or more.
