Trend data show significant increases in high level gentamicin resistance from 1995 (15.1%) to 1999 (60.4%) and again from 2003 (46.2%) to 2010 (65.9%). The increase from 2003 to 2010 was driven by resistance in non-invasive isolates (49.4% to 74.6%) as rates of resistance remained stable in invasive isolates during that time period despite year-to-year fluctuations (41.2% to 46.0%)
