Figure 2 shows the notification rate per 100,000 population for Salmonella in Australia in 2011, by age group and sex. Rates are distributed fairly evenly between the sexes, but with females slightly higher in most age groups. Rates are highest in age group 0-4 years for both males (228 per 100,000) and females (194 per 100,000) 3 times the rates of the next age group 5-9 years. All other age groups sit between 30 per 100,000 and 50 per 100,000 with slight peaks in 20-29 year olds especially females (64 per 100,000) and 80-84 year old males (56 per 100,000).
