This figure shows the trend of notifications received by the National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System from 1991 to 2013. The figure demonstrates a gradual increase over time from 43,719 notifications in 1991 to 159,266 notifications in 2008. In 2009 notifications peaked at 237,729 decreased slightly in 2010 to 210,283 and peaked again in 2011 and 2012 with 238,602 and 244,425 notifications respectively. In 2013 notifications decreased by 8 per cent to 224,433 compared to 2012 which has the highest year total of notifications since 1991.
