The National Action Plan for the Health of Children and Young People: 2020-2030 (the Action Plan) builds on Healthy, Safe and Thriving: National Strategic Framework for Child and Youth Health and outlines Australia’s national approach to improving health outcomes for all children and young people, particularly those at greatest risk of poor health.
The Action Plan aims to drive improvement in the health of all children and young people in Australia across the life course, noting challenges of disparity and inequity in health outcomes between individuals, areas, and different sections of the population.
The Action Plan is both a call to action and a tool for action - guiding collaborative and cohesive approaches to ensure that Australian children and young people are healthy, safe and thriving.
Consultation for the development of the Action Plan included:
- three child health workshops held in November 2018;
- public consultation (online survey) during March 2019; and
- targeted consultations with state and territory governments and key stakeholders.
