Description of clinic
The Geelong GP Super Clinic known as "Kardinia Health" is a new single storey building located on the same site as the Belmont Community Health Centre. The clinic is easily accessible by road and by a public bus service.
The clinic opened on 30th August 2010.

Services
Multidisciplinary care
The clinic provides multidisciplinary, integrated services through GP and allied health professionals such as GP's, registered nurses, enrolled nurses, practice nurses, a care planning nurse, a mental health nurse, psychologists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologist/ massage therapist, dietician, diabetes educator and an endocrinologist.

Health needs and priorities
The City of Greater Geelong currently has a population of 216,330 which is expected to increase to 260,000 in 2021. The suburb of Belmont, in which the Geelong GP Super Clinic is located, has a population of 13,646 and a Socioeconomic Index for Areas (SEIFA) score of 991.7. Between 2011 and 2012, the 65-74 age group will show the most significant increase.
In response, the Geelong GP Super Clinic provides a wide range of services for older community members such as diabetes education, nutrition advice, podiatry services, balance and agility classes and rehabilitation services. The clinic is targeting both the prevention and management of chronic disease and major risk factors such as obesity and physical inactivity.
The clinic works closely with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cooperative, Wathaurong Health Centre, to ensure Indigenous specific health services are available. The clinic also liaises with the Aboriginal Liaison Officer at Barwon Health, (where appropriate), and provides options for longer and family oriented consultations for those clients identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The Geelong GP Super Clinic is accredited against the RACGP standards.

Operating hours
Open 8am to 8.30pm weekdays and 9am to 1pm Saturday and 10am to 12pm Sunday. After hours on call system through Melbourne Locum Service from 8:30pm to 5am. Clinic doctors on call from 5am to 8am.
Billing arrangements
Bulk billing for medical services is available to those on pensions with health care concession cards and children under the age of 16.

Home visits and visits to residential aged care facilities are available.
Clinical training arrangements
The clinic has incorporated teaching as part of its design and has three dedicated consulting rooms for students of various health disciplines. Over the past year, the Clinic facilitated placements for around 60 undergraduate medical, nursing and allied health students.
The Geelong GP Super Clinic is an accredited training practice with a full time Prevocational GP Placement Program (PGPPP) from Barwon Health and a part time GP Registrar.
The Foundation Chair in General Practice at Deakin University is based at the clinic.
