The project aim was to combine best practice evidence, reliable data and expertise in data management, information systems and quality improvement infrastructure to sample Australian general practice data and develop a research protocol. The collaboration between Macquarie University, The University of Melbourne, Melbourne East GP Network and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Program found the data was of sufficient quality for further analysis, allowing the development of a future study protocol, which will examine the quality of pathology requesting and result management in Australian general practice.
